Buyer Beware
Posted in Group Policies on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 13:51:11 EST
As we move forward we find that more and more people are able to purchase group policies. When you look at a group policy you will probably have only three choices. In most cases the choices do not cover inflation protection. They may say inflation protection, but it is usually a Guaranteed Purchase Option that allows you to buy more insurance every three years at the age you are then. Basically, if you start coverage at age 50 you may be paying $1,000.00 per year. If you exercise all you options by age 60 you will be paying about $2,000.00 and at age 75 about $8,000.00 per year. By buying the proper inflation protection at age 50, you cost will be about $2400.00 and will stay the same throughout your life. Also most of the group policies offer 50% Home Care, which is not enough. Remember you get what you pay for.
We have seen policies that have been purchased, through a group, being dropped by the owners because the policy did not pay enough or the cost rose above what most people could afford. Everyone should use their state partnership guidlines as an absolute minimun. Let the buyer beware. We ar prepared to be os assistance to anyone who might need advice, wheather the purchase from us or not.
